How the Drivers App works without internet

The Routal Drivers App is designed to work even when there is no internet connection. Drivers can view their stops, fill in delivery reports, and navigate their route — all without needing a signal.

Reports are automatically synced to the server when connectivity is restored.

What works without internet

  • Viewing all stops and route details from the current route.

  • Filling in and submitting completion or cancellation reports.

  • Taking photos and capturing signatures for proof of delivery.

  • Navigating to stops using cached map data.

What requires internet

  • Receiving new stops added by the Planner in real time.

  • Syncing route updates or rescheduling changes.

  • Loading route data for the first time (the route must be downloaded before going offline).

The pending report queue

When a driver submits a report while offline, the app saves it locally in a pending queue instead of sending it to the server. The stop displays a 'Pending' badge to indicate the report has not yet been synced.

As soon as the driver reconnects to the internet the app automatically syncs all pending reports in the background. No manual action is required. Each synced report is confirmed and removed from the queue.

Identifying pending reports

Stops with unsynced reports show a 'Pending' badge in the route list. You can see all pending items by opening the pending reports indicator in the app header.

Discarding a pending report

If you need to remove a pending report, long-press the stop with the pending badge and select Discard Report. A confirmation dialog will appear before the report is permanently deleted from the queue.
