New in Routal: Complete Traceability for Every Parcel on Your Routes
The Parcel Management module allows you to assign specific parcels to each stop on a route and track their status from the moment they are loaded into the vehicle until they are delivered to the final customer.
This feature is available from the Gorilla plan onwards and must be enabled on a per-project basis.
How to Enable Parcel Management
Go to Project Settings.
Open the General section.
Under Features, enable Parcel Traceability.
Assigning Parcels to Stops (Planner)
When creating or editing a route, you can add one or more parcel identifiers to each stop.
Parcels can be added manually from the stop panel or uploaded in bulk via Excel together with the stops. Parcel identifiers must be unique within the same stop.
Important: Parcels can only be added or edited while the stop is in Pending status. Once the route is in progress, the parcels assigned to a stop can no longer be modified from Planner.
Confirming Loading (Driver)
Before or during the route, at any time while the stop remains in Pending status, the driver can access the loading screen in the Driver App and confirm which parcels have been collected.
Each parcel can be confirmed either by scanning its barcode or by marking it manually. Both actions are equivalent.
Verifying Delivery (Driver)
When completing a stop, the driver verifies which parcels have been delivered.
As with loading, each parcel can be confirmed either by barcode scan or manual confirmation.
If the driver completes the stop with parcels that have not been verified, the stop is marked as Incomplete.
The individual status of each parcel is visible from the stop details panel in Planner, allowing supervisors and planners to see exactly what was delivered and what was not.
Routes with Pickups
When a stop has an associated pickup, load confirmation takes place at the pickup location rather than before the route starts.
The driver sees the list of parcels to be loaded upon arriving at the pickup stop, confirms them there, and then only needs to verify delivery when completing the destination stop.
Each pickup is linked to exactly one delivery stop, and vice versa.
Parcel Statuses
Pending — The parcel is assigned to the stop but has not yet been confirmed as loaded.
Collected — The driver has confirmed that the parcel has been loaded into the vehicle.
Delivered — The driver has confirmed that the parcel has been delivered at the destination stop.
What Happens If a Stop Is Cancelled?
If a stop is cancelled, parcels that had already been marked as loaded (Collected) retain that status as a record that they physically left the warehouse.
The physical return process is managed outside of Routal.
If a report is cancelled (undone), the parcels associated with that stop automatically return to their previous status without any manual intervention.
Visibility in Planner
From the stop details panel in Planner, supervisors and planners can view the complete list of parcels assigned to each stop and their individual statuses in real time.
This view updates automatically as the driver confirms loading and delivery throughout the route.
